Mission Accomplished: The Generalate Bade Good-Bye to Bro. Rey
ROME, Italy- On November 16, 2014, the Community of the Generalate and the International Scholasticate Community in Rome gathered together for a farewell celebration for Bro. Rey, a Filipino brother, who served in the General house for almost three years.
Bro. Rey is the first and the only Filipino Montfort brother from the Philippines. After his perpetual profession, he received his first obedience in Rome. Being a Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate, he shared his skills in the management of the kitchen. He also collaborated with the other brothers in maintaining the general house and the garden.
The celebration started with a special mid-day prayer, which was led by Fr. Santino, the Superior General. After the prayer, a simple meal was shared by everyone.
As part of his activities while in Rome, during his free days on weekends, Bro. Rey used to spend time with the Filipino communities and he managed to do some ministry with two groups of the Legion of Mary.
Bro. Rey honestly expressed that life in the international community was very challenging but his dedication, openness to other cultures and by joyfully sharing his talents with the community have kept him productive and efficient in doing his responsibilities.
Bro. Rey returned to the Philippines to respond to the needs of the Delegation. He will be part of the team in charge of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort Retreat House in Bulacan.
