4.5 Prayer
STAGE 4: Towards the Likeness of Jesus Christ
JESUS AND THE DISCIPLE
THE CAPTIVATING INTIMACY
PRAYER
Rosary
Let us meditate on Jesus’ intimate ways to relate with his disciples.
The apostles: When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Teacher, where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come and see”. They came and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day (Jn 1:38-39).
Martha, Mary and Lazarus: Jesus loved Martha, her sister and Lazarus (Jn 11:5). Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to what he was saying (Lk 10:39).
The beloved disciple: Then Jesus said to the disciple, “Here is your mother”. And from that hour the disciple took Mary into his own home (Jn 19:27).
Mary Magdalene: Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God’” (Jn 20:16-17).
The seventy disciples: The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!” He said to them, “Do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Lk 10:17.20).
Concluding Prayer
Lord Jesus,
you are so in love with us
that You can no longer hold the flames
of your burning love:
let your love spread around
by means of me.
Reveal Yourself through me
and enrich the people I meet
with Your profound treasures and all the graces
they need
to be saved and sanctified.
Amen!
