Il est élu alors qu'il est provincial des États Unis. Le Chapitre qui l'élit travaille pour une réforme des structures de la congrégation qui soient adaptées aux nouvelles situations. En 1993 la Compagnie comptait 1129 membres. Alors que dans l'hémisphère Nord il y a des difficultés au plan vocationnel, dans les pays du Sud où nous sommes présents, il y a un développement continu et progressif. Le supérieur général se rend présent par de nombreux voyages afin de soutenir, encourager et créer des collaborations. L'année 1994 voit la mort violente des Pères Samuel Malo (Madagascar) et Jean-Marie Vincent (Haïti). En septembre 1996 il accueille le Pape Jean Paul II pèlerin à Saint Laurent sur Sèvre. En 1999 il est réélu pour un second mandat. Avec la supérieure générale des Filles de la Sagesse et le supérieur général des Frères de Saint Gabriel, il promeut une initiative dont le but est de rassembler des jeunes liés à la spiritualité montfortaine à l'occasion du grand jubilé de l'an 2000. Au cours d'une célébration très émouvante il confère aux Frères de Saint Gabriel une relique de Saint Louis Marie, marquant ainsi le désir d'éloigner toute division dans une volonté de marcher ensemble (29 septembre 1997).

Superior general for 2 terms of 6 years
He was elected while serving as Provincial of the United States. The Chapter that elected him was working for a reform of the structures of the congregation which would be adapted to new situations. In 1993 the congregation numbered 1129 members. While in the Northern hemisphere there were difficulties in the area of vocations, in the countries of the South where we were present, there was continuing and progressive growth. The superior general undertook many journeys to support, encourage and create collaboration. 1994 saw the violent deaths of Frs Samuel Malo (Madagascar) and Jean-Marie Vincent (Haiti). In September 1996 he welcomed Pope John Paul II as a pilgrim to Saint-Laurent sur Sèvre. He was re-elected in 1999 for a second term of office. With the Superiors General of the Daughters of Wisdom and the Brothers of St Gabriel, he promoted an initiative whose aim was to gather together young people linked to Montfortian spirituality on the occasion of the great Jubilee of the year 2000. During a very moving celebration he gave a relic of St Louis Marie to the Brothers of St Gabriel, thus emphasising the desire to put aside all division in a determination to walk together (29 September 1997).

Nasce a Ozone Park (Stati Uniti) nel 1948. Entra nella Compagnia nel 1966 e viene ordinato sacerdote nel 1973. Ha 45 anni ed è Provinciale degli Stati Uniti, quando nel 1993, viene eletto Superiore Generale. Resta in carica per 2 mandati di 6 anni. Il Capitolo che lo elegge lavora per una riforma delle strutture della Congregazione adattate alle nuove situazioni. Nel 1993 la Compagnia conta 1.129 religiosi. Mentre nel Nord del mondo si vivono difficoltà a livello vocazionale, al Sud invece, là dove siamo presenti, c’è un continuo progressivo sviluppo. Il Superiore Generale si fa presente con numerosi viaggi, per sostenere, incoraggiare, creare collaborazioni. Nel 1994 vengono uccisi violentemente i padri Samuel Malo (nel Madagascar) e Jean Vincent (in Haiti). Nel settembre 1996 accoglie papa Giovanni Paolo II pellegrino a St. Laurent-sur-Sèvre. Nel 1997 in occasione del 50° della Canonizzazione di San Luigi, con una celebrazione molto commovente, consegna ai Fratelli di San Gabriele una reliquia del Fondatore, segnando così il desiderio di allontanare ogni divisione e la volontà di camminare insieme. Nel 1999 viene rieletto per un secondo mandato. Con i Superiori Generali delle Figlie della Sapienza e dei Fratelli di San Gabriele si fa promotore di un’iniziativa che raccolga i giovani legati alla spiritualità monfortana in occasione del Grande Giubileo del 2000 a Roma. Nel 2004 promulga il primo volume della nuova Ratio Formationis: Insieme… sulle orme degli Apostoli poveri.
